A young woman accused Rihanna’s former companion of raping her at a luxury hotel in the capital on the night of 15 to 16 January.
Chris Brown’s “aggravated rape” and “drug violation” custody was lifted on the evening of Tuesday, 22 January. The American singer of R’n’B has been released, without being prosecuted at this stage, said the Paris prosecutor, who added that investigations were continuing, under his authority.
Raphael Chiche, a lawyer for Chris Brown, told AFP that his client “strongly protests his innocence” and has asked him to file a complaint “because of the slander he was unfairly subjected to”. The singer was arrested by police at his hotel on Monday, according to AFP news, confirming a revelation made by Closer magazine.
At the heart of the investigation: the charges brought by a 25-year-old woman, who claims to have been raped by the 29-year-old American artist, a friend and her bodyguard, on the night of January 15 to 16 at the Mandarin Oriental, a palace in the 1st district.
She also said that she spent part of the evening in a club in the 8th district, near the Champs-Elysées, with the singer and other women, before going to his hotel. The investigation was entrusted to the first district of the Judicial Police of Paris.
